Genesis Counseling & Psychological Services was founded in April of 1993.  We believe in supporting individuals, marriages, and families.   We also believe that healthy individuals, marriages, and families have a positive influence across the many settings of our society.  Our staff provides services for individuals, couples, children, and families covering most issues including but not limited to:

Individual Counseling

Life often causes inner turmoil and may prevent us from living effectively. Individual counseling often helps individuals overcome hindrances in life, sort through overwhelming feelings, and reduce stress.  Individual Counseling is a collaborative effort between you and your counselor to assess resources, develop goals, and then work toward healthy change. 

 

Couples & Marriage Counseling

Intimate relationships are often the most rewarding or frustrating experiences of life.  Living with another human being with their unique backgrounds and experiences can be difficult.  Becoming vulnerable to someone is risky and thus there is potential to be deeply wounded.  Couples and Marriage Counseling assists in the healing process by providing a safe environment to explore what is working and not working in the relationship, build upon existing strengths, and adjust unhealthy patterns of interaction.  Counseling will help you learn new or better ways of communicating, develop new solutions to old conflicts, and assist both of you in the process of healing and recovering trust.

 

Family Counseling

Since "no man is an island" families can be viewed as systems.  Patterns tend to become established and, if unhealthy, are difficult to change.  Different members are in various phases of growth and maturity.  Family Counseling is tailored to each family with the most benefit occurring when all members recognize they have some contribution to the system, and become involved in the process.  Your counselor will work with you to understand the issues and patterns, and assist your family in exploring new strategies to live more effectively. 

 

Christian Counseling*

Though not everyone desires Christian Counseling, many clients seek out Genesis Counseling because their faith plays an important role in their day-to-day decisions.  Those who do pursue Christian Counseling want to meet with someone they can trust to help them navigate through life without violating their faith and values.  Christian Counseling services are offered in the context of love and acceptance while integrating Biblical truth.

 

*Most of our staff have formal training in Bible and Theology as well as in Counseling and Psychology.
